Age is just a number, right? And next year, that number will be 200 - as in St. Joseph cemetery will be celebrating 200 years at the Main Street location. To mark this auspicious anniversary, the 200th Anniversary Committee has plans - lots of plans - and a logo. So, get out your 2025 calendars and reserve these dates! On Sunday, April 6, the committee will host a soiree at the Main Library on Goodwood Boulevard. The theme for the soiree will be “Tell Me a Story,” and committee members are reaching out to all of you to share stories about your ancestors buried in the cemetery. You can contact them at: In addition, the soiree will feature food and beverages, as well as a silent auction and a presentation about the cemetery and the important role it has played in the city’s history. On Sunday, Oct. 19, the committee will hold an afternoon scavenger hunt for families and children at the cemetery. There will be goodie bags and prizes involved. Finally, the committee will cap off the anniversary year on Nov. 2 with an All Souls Day Mass, the Blessing of the Graves and a luncheon. |
