After a successful Soirée kicking off the 200th Anniversary Celebration of the cemetery, the Anniversary Committee is moving forward with plans for more celebrations. The next event – Come Meet the Saints & Sinners of St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery – will be Sunday, Oct. 19. We’re not saying who is who, but we hope you’ll join us for a short presentation on the history of the cemetery and ongoing presentation efforts, followed by a tour of some of the more notable tombs. The presentation will start at 2 p.m., and the tours will run until 4 p.m. Admission is free, although we’ll be happy to accept any donations from those so inclined. Mainly, we just want you to get to know this historic treasure. Then, on Sunday, Nov. 2, the committee will cap off the anniversary year with the All Souls Day Mass at St. Joseph Cathedral, followed by a luncheon in the Parish Hall and the Blessing of the Graves at the cemetery. A reminder, too, that committee members still want to hear your stories about your ancestors buried in the cemetery. You can reach them at |
